As I said, I love Saramago’s prose. The story itself offers an interesting point of view on the life of the most famous celebrity. Beautiful in some parts, especially the dialogues with God and the Devil, boring others. Not bad, quite good.

I’m listening to the Italian audiobook. It will take a while.

This could be the greatest sci-fi book I’ve read. Let me explain. It is surely the one with the craziest and most unexpected choices from the author’s point of view. I truly loved it, but the last part… Maybe that was too much. Really.

Anyway, it was a beautiful closing chapter for a phenomenal trilogy. The first and third ones are my favorite books.

I was sincerely surprised by this series. The expectations were high since the cast was the same as the two recent IT movies, and honestly I was not disappointed. There were some ridiculous twists (the old tree in the last episodes is chosen with no sense), but overall it is a good horror.

I also liked the reference to The Shining, but at the end it is too obvious from the dialogue. Overall, I’d like to see a sequel, or even a prequel, since the movie/book comes next!

I own a very nice edition of the graphic novel, and I read it about ten years ago, but honestly I don’t remember it very well. Anyway, I immediately noticed the evident change of tone because of the present-day setting of the series. I liked it; there is very good suspense, and the characters are extremely well personalized. Also in this series, I can’t understand why they included one or two figures that feel just superfluous — at least for me.

A particular mention for the finale: a very good episode, but there is no partial resolution; it feels interrupted in the wrong way, with an almost unnecessary cliffhanger.

This sequel has two main issues: the pace — but that is not severe — and the fact that the plot follows the movie too closely in a couple of chapters. Anyway, it has two or three great ideas and twists that make it worth reading.

They really ruined the franchise. The whole World first trilogy was garbage, but this is something beyond: it is unnecessarily long, boring, and has very few action scenes. A very high-budget B-movie. The dinosaurs are few, and… mutant?! In the next movie there must be aliens. That’s the only thing left.

When I read who the director is, I was shocked. I still have fond memories of Monsters, and this is a very badly written sequel.

I really enjoyed most of the tales in this book. I only knew a couple of the artists —the most famous ones obviously, Agatha Christie, Matheson and Bradbury— and I’m happy to have found new ones! Some stories had a very distinct ’50s flavor, but others have a much more familiar King-ish tone. Lovely.

I’ve been listening to this audiobook for the last two or three weeks, and I immediately fell in love with Dumas’s tone towards the reader (he sometimes seems to break the fourth wall) and the atmosphere he creates. Overall, the plot is very simple for such a long manuscript. One positive aspect is the slow rhythm combined with excellent characterization!

And, most of all, the finale is the icing on the cake: that b..ch! Well deserved!

I can’t wait to read (listen?) the sequels!

I think I never read a book by Verne, so it’s better catch up.

That was a really amazing journey. I am impressed that in 1869 Verne was able to describe such advanced technology and distant scenarios with such precision. It is sci-fi indeed. I really liked it! It is a bit verbose when describing some characteristics of the various creatures, but it is very entertaining.

Bonus points: there are references to climate change, which are the oldest I’ve found so far!

Finally I started this game! The first one was a masterpiece, the expectations are like 🚀🚀🚀

After three months(!), I finally 100%ed this game. As the prequel, I loved it. As you may have guessed, I love stories based on mythology, and Kratos’s Norse saga is amazing. Some quests are definetely fillers, as the one asks to find nine flowers across the worlds… but overall, it’s another Sony masterpiece.

That was a fascinating reading. It is incredible what we’are capable of… when our brain does not work as intended — or better, it works slightly differently from how we expect it to. I liked very much the photography and the atmoshpere, but there are two main issues in my opinion:

It’s not scary at all
The monster is so huge that is almost hard to take seriously

Also, I didn’t like the unnecessary revision of Dracula’s plot. So… Meh. A good supernatural thriller.

At about 30%, it is interesting, but a bit slow.

Still relevant until the end.

After two months (and half), I finally finished it. Well, what to say? In my opinion, the story is catchy but with two main flaws: it is overly verbose (almost 700 pages!) and even too complex. There are too many repetitions, redundant inner thinking,… Even in the very very final part! Overall, though, it’s a nice thriller with a good villain.

I just noticed that this record came out almost thirty-three years ago, and last weekend I put it on a few times. It is just immortal. Maybe the easiest(?) of the band, excluding the last two songs (the drum machine in Pearl Bomb is the worst idea ever). My expectations were too high. I loved The Three-Body Problem, and here I found again some very interesting ideas, such as the Wallfacers and the Wallbreakers. Anyway, there are two main flaws: the lack of rhythm (which affected the prequel too) and of a real story. We always have the feeling that something is going to happen… but it never does.
