They really ruined the franchise. The whole World first trilogy was garbage, but this is something beyond: it is unnecessarily long, boring, and has very few action scenes.
A very high-budget B-movie.

When I read who the director is, I was shocked. I still have fond memories of Monsters, and this is a very badly written sequel.
